Late 1800s "The Human Fly", a daredevil who was going to come to Ludlow to climb up to the top of the Odd Fellows Hall. Billposters peppered the town with "Fearless Flight of the Human Fly" billboards. On the anticipated Saturday, a giant crowd formed on the corner of Elm and Butler. Fifty feet East of the Ludlow Theatre/Bircus Brewing Co. now the parking lot for the funeral home.

As the crowd was building on the much publicized day, the Human Fly decided the Odd Fellows Hall was simply too tall. The throng who'd gathered to see the "Fearless Fly" was naturally disappointed. The promoter, not worried at all about the swarming mob exclaimed, "The Human Fly will ascend the Southern Railway Bridge next Saturday ... Where he'll dive into the Ohio from high atop the bridge." In the crowd that day was a young man who grew up on Carneal Street in Ludlow. His name was Hungry Stewart.

This is a classic bait and switch gimmick, used by carnival promoters since the beginning of time. The negative press ensured even bigger crowds for the next feat. Posters went up on both sides of the river: Covington, Ludlow, Newport and Cincinnati. The Human Fly was going to dive into the Ohio River.

A week later the crowds formed, the suspense skyrocketed and, about 10 minutes before the Human Fly was to take the dynamic plunge, Hungry Stewart climbed up the bridge, strolled to the center, waved to Ohio and Kentucky and dove headfirst into the mighty Ohio. Stealing the show! He then floated on his back to Ludlow. Hungry Stewart had won the hearts and minds of the people North and South of the Mason Dixon Line.

This hazy IPA is brewed with #Amarillo, #Citra, #Mosaic, and #galaxy hops. Weighs in at 60 IBUs 6.5% ABV with notes of clean citrus, passionfruit, pine, and tropical fruit. Primary hopped and dry hopped giving it a double dose of a huge aromatic citrus and tropical nose.
